For the past nine years or so, John has been on an inner and outer journey of personal transformation, which culminate in his national and internationally known project: Love and Peace to the Whole World: Think It and Make It Happen. About the Ecozoic Handyman
John writes:
"I was born in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Brockton, MA where I still live. Though I was baptized Catholic, I consider myself a man of all faiths. I went to Catholic elementary and high school, but completed my GED in the Marine Corps. I was married twice, but do not have any biological children. Instead, I have many, many "children" - sons and daughters of family members and friends. I have dedicated my website to them and to all the other children of the world." |

John McCarthy was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 29, 1939
He was raised and spent most of his adult life in Brockton, MA He was in the first Graduating Class of St. Casimer's Catholic School in 1953 (Brockton), attended High School at Archbishop Williams (Braintree, MA), and Served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps John was known by various nicknames: Russian, Hoot, Tripp, Big Mack, Jack, and most recently, the Ecozoic Handyman. In some families he visited, the children lovingly called him Big John! |

During his life, he worked as a sheet metal worker, glazer, cement finisher, landscaper, plumber, greenhouse builder and operator, and truck driver. He was a legend in shipbuilding - worked in Quincy and various shipyards all over the United States and St. John Dry Dock, New Brunswick, Canada as General Foreman and Job Superintendent.
He served on the Board of the Conti Club and the Lithuanian Franklin Club and as the manager of the Lithuanian Franklin Club Semi-Pro Basketball Team.
John enjoyed photography, gardening, wine-making, flag pole making and in his more recent years, taking an annual trip across the United States stopping at Earth Centers to help with whatever needed to be done in maintenance, gardening, and odd jobs.
He claimed a multitude of "grandchildren" by love not by blood - many of whom are listed on this website.

"This website is dedicated to the children of the world, especially some of the children in my life. When they reach my age - fifty years from now - I hope Mother Earth will be better off than she is now. John is survived by sister, Loretta: bother, Patrick / wife, Karen; two nieces, Maureen and Erin; grandnephew, PJ
